From #SipendangiUjinga to LambaLolo to #KobiKiharachallenge and now #UnakufaChallenge, Kenyan’s creativity has no doubt created its own highly respected space on the internet.

Some university students in Eldoret shared their top memes for the #UnakufaChallenge and also expressed their opinion.

“The hilarious meme that really cracked my rib was the one which said; ‘Una date Mkale ana run away with your heart Unakufa’. I think it was so creative of Kenyans to create jokes from the things that we directly relate to in our everyday life,” Benson Kamanda a student at Moi University said.

What makes the #UnakufaChallenge memes more effective is the fact that they relate to every youth’s life.

“The meme that impressed me was the one which stated; ‘Unajiona beast una vybe dem wa Strathmore na USIU, kizungu inakunyonga unakufa’. The meme paints the reality that actually happens in universities,” Kennedy Kiptoo a student at the University of Eldoret noted.

For Emily Nyansioboka, a third-year student at Moi University main campus, it is the fusion of Kiswahili sayings into the memes that made her day.

“The ability to create a joke out of the Swahili sayings is what really impressed me. For instance, there is this one that says; ‘Dem wako ako na sauti ya kutoa nyoka pangoni, anaimba nyoka inatoka pangoni inakuuma unakufa,” Nyansioboka said.

Some of the youths have also gone a step further and begun making money out of the memes.

As the #UnakufaChallenge is fading away, we can’t wait to see what next Kenyans have in store.
