KCA University has officially dismissed claims that the institution was planning to introduce a system of caning students as a disciplinary measure. The institution during a press statement on Monday, however, denied issuing the viral letter titled 'Introduction of caning to disobedient and disrespectful students'.
“We wish to inform the students, staff and the general public that the memo referenced ‘Introduction of canning of disobedient and disrespectful dated 1st July 2019 is a forged document,” the University stated as quoted.
The University management instructed its students and staffs to ignore the letter but advised the former to abide by the university rules and further stated that it had launched investigations into the alleged fake letter to determine its origin.
This comes shortly after a memo dated July 1 indicated that the university will adopt canning of students in its mid-year semester beginning May to August.
“I wish to inform all academic students that the caning of disobedient and disrespectful students will be introduced with effect from May-August 2019 trimester,” the alleged fake letter read.
