A middle-aged man died on the spot on Monday after falling from a lorry in Soko Muyo area, Matungulu sub-county.
The man identified as Kioko Mwambi had allegedly attempted to hang on a sand ferrying lorry before he lost his grip thus falling on the tarmac.
The incidence was confirmed by Matungulu sub-county deputy police commander Nyawa Mrinzi.
He told journalists that the lorry driver was unaware of the man and couldn't stop the vehicle.
"He waited for the approaching lorry and hanged on it but lost his grip and fell on the road, he died in the spot," said Mrinzi who warned youths against reckless hanging on lorries to avert accidents that may turn out fatal.
"If you're travelling, use the public means but if you are a loader stop the lorry and alert the driver instead of jumping and the driver may be unaware and you may die or get injured," he added.
The Matungulu police boss said the behaviour is common in Kangundo and Matungulu sub-county and urged youths to be cautious.
The body of the man was taken to Kangundo Level Four Hospital mortuary for preservation.
