President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday flagged off off Tong-il Moo-Do Kenya national team that will be representing the country at the 2019 World Martial Arts Mastership in South Korea.

During the event, Uhuru showed his martial arts skills when he trained with the team before its departure. 

Uhuru, who is completing his second and final term in power, also received the national flag and trophies from the Morans & Malkia Strikers.

The head of State was awarded 8th-degree honorary Black Belt award from the World Tong-il Moo-Do Federation during the event.

“President Kenyatta was presented the 8th degree honorary Black Belt award from the World Tong-il Moo-Do Federation in appreciation of his continuous support and commitment to the sport,” State House tweeted.

The president assured that he will continue supporting and nurturing talents before he leaves power. He noted that there are millions of talented Kenyan youths who need mentoring to rise to the top.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta has today assured the country that his administration is keen on harnessing and nurturing sporting talents among young Kenyans. He said mechanisms are being put in place to ensure that talents are identified and developed right from the grassroots,” State House added.
