Former Attorney General Amos Wako on Friday hosted former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa at his home in Busia.
In a tweet, Echesa said that they discussed a wide range of issues including Luhya unity and the prosperity of the region amid the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
Echesa said that their meeting was fruitful but did not disclose many details over the same.
“Earlier today, I paid a courtesy call to Hon Amos Wako, EGH, Senator Busia County at his rural residential home in Matayos. In our tete-a-tete we discussed matters pertaining Luhya unity and political prosperity in our region,” he tweeted.
The leaders from the region have been asking each other to unite ahead of the next general elections. Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, CS Eugene Wamalwa and COTU boss have been on the forefront in the calls for Luhya Unity.
The meeting comes after the senator was barred from travelling to the US over graft. The US Government said that it has enough evidence against Wako, adding that he has no permission to set foot in American soil.
Wako dismissed the ban while terming it malicious and ill-intended. He argued that he is not guilty of any offence levelled against him, adding that he has never been interested in travelling to the US.
“I was baffled and perplexed when out of the blue, without any notification whatsoever or being given the fundamental right of being heard on any allegations, [the ban was issued] against me, " he said.Amos Wako meets Echesa as calls for Luhya unity intensify
