According to the family, the DP promised to support them shortly after their son died, but so far, they have not received any support from him.

Felix Mambala, the father of the deceased, said he has tried reaching the DP, but his attempts have not be fruitful.

“Hajawahi receive simu. Napiga simu hazishikwi. Mimi nasikia uchungu sana kumpoteza mtoto wa kwanza. (I made phone calls but he was not receiving my calls. I feel extremely hurt to lose my first born child)," he said.

Mambala claimed the DP promised him and his wife a job and financial support for a salon business respectively.

"The DP called the area OCPD, and asked him to pass the phone to me. DP Ruto told me to take heart, promising to look into my family’s welfare. He also promised to foot all the funeral expenses," Mambala told Edaily

The family has insisted that financial support would help them in healing after the sudden death of their son.

“DP afanye vile aliahidi. Kama hangekuja budalangi (Sidney) hangekufa. Huyo mtoto angekuwa mtu mkubwa akuje atusaidie budalangi mzima. (The DP should do as he promised. If he hadn't come to Budalangi, Sidney wouldn't have died. Sidney would have grown up and helped us and the entire Budalangi community)," he said as quoted by Citizen TV.

Reports on Citizen Digital indicate that the DP's office confirmed that no help has been accorded to the family so far, as the matter is still in court.
