Garissa Governor Ali Bunow Korane has warned of slow development following the national government move to cut county budgetary allocation.
Korane says that Garissa residents and Kenyans should expect some services to halt after the national government slashed county government budget for the 2018/2019 Financial Year (FY) by Sh9 Billion.
Speaking in Garissa Town on Saturday, Korane said that key services among them health are likely to halt following the budgetary cuts.
He faulted MPs for allowing National Treasury to reduce on county budgets.
“We are going to experience service disruption especially in areas like health and education following the budgetary slash,” the governor said.
Korane said that counties need more resources to advance development and guarantee services to the people.
He asked Garissa residents to tighten their belts for tough economic times after the Finance Bill 2018 was signed into law two weeks ago.
The national government slashed county budget by Sh9 billion in the Finance Bill 2018 that is now law.
Several governors across the country have raised fears of services halting following the budgetary slash.
