25 years after his death, the spirit of founding Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga remains alive in most Kenyans who appreciate his contribution for the nation's well being.

This has been witnessed in Kisumu Cities which will be hosting his 25th-anniversary memorial and as things appear, everything is set for the major event.

Consequently, streets in the city have been beautified with huge billboards depicting the image of the late Oginga and hailing him for a job well done.

According to area Governor Anyang Nyongo, the county is very honoured and pleased to be entrusted with the responsibility by the Jaramogi family.

"We are proud as Kisumu County to be hosting the 25th Anniversary of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, Kenya's first vice president. A person whose selfless actions continue to inspire us not just in Kenya, but throughout Africa. Viva Mzee Jaramogi!" he wrote on Saturday.

Jaramogi died in the same county while undergoing treatment at the Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu in January 1994.

He was at the time an important figure in the opposition and a leader of the Ford Kenya party, a strong opposition bloc at the time.

He was also the Bondo lawmaker, a.seat that was later inherited by his firstborn son Oburu Oginga.
