Feeling 'embarrassed' with the content of the speech, Uhuru insited that he 'cannot' read lies, adding that leaders must fulfill their promises.

"I won't read this speech because I don't want to lie. We should learn to fulfill our promises. Let us act first and get results," said Uhuru, who had been answering questions before fielded by participants.

And on social media, the president caught Kenyans off guard with majority hailing him for being a 'realist'.

"It is rare for a president to discard a written speech. He must have seen some exaggeration in it. That is the way to go and am happy he has seen the light," wrote Douglas Maati, an ODM youth leader.

Another user, Elvin Moraa: " We can't sugarcoat everything. The president wants to see results and his handlers and those in government should be now careful."

During the event, Uhuru appeared to scold Governor Mike Sonko and transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia our delay in delivery of services.

Political commentator Gideon Mamboleo termed the move as 'perfect and important' adding that it will save Uhuru from ridicule.
