The Form Three student from Nanyuki High School is accused of stabbing Valerian Njeri on November 29, 2019, at Mirera Estate, near Naivasha Town.

The accused, however, denied the charges before High Court Judge Richard Mwongo and through his lawyer filed an application to be released on bail.

The lawyer in his application asked Judge Mwongo to release his client while they wait for the bail report saying that the young man had undergone age and mental assessments.

The lawyer further said that the accused who is a student will be continuing with his studies when school reopens adding that he should be given lenient bail terms since the aggrieved parents were friends.

“The suspect will be joining Form Four next year and we are praying to the court to determine the bond terms before schools reopen,” said the lawyer as quoted by the Standard.

Judge Mwongo, however, directed that the suspect should be detained at the Naivasha police station until the next case hearing when the court will determine his bail application.

The court will rule on the application on December 31.

The boy was arrested last month after the body of the girl was found dumped at the doorstep of her parents and a trail of blood from where the body was found was traced by the police to his bedroom.

The girl was found stabbed twenty-six times and the throat slit after she allegedly rejected the boy’s sexual advances while at his parents’ home.
