He says this will ensure more farmers from the county access the seedling at lower prices and encouraged them to embrace diversification.

"Coffee seedlings go at Sh40  and we will subsidize to Sh10, avocado Sh250 and it will be be subsidized to Sh100 and Macadamia goes for Sh350 and will be subsidized to Sh150," said the county boss.

Mandago spoke in Kaptebengwet, Soy sub-county during the internment of the late Johana Kipsaina Kilach on Wednesday.

He reiterated that such crops have more financial value and farmers will get more income compared to maize and wheat which has been the traditional crop in the region.

Mandago further called on residents to practice diversification and stop relying on maize at the expense of other crops.

"Through diversification, the county’s food production will increase if farmers embrace other crops. We as a county will be able to fight poverty and unemployment if we take agriculture seriously," added Mandago.

The governor noted that the county has a conducive environment and fertile soils to support any form of agriculture.
