Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia have been sent into panic, after a number of players demanded that they be released from the club.
Led by captain Harun Shakava, the players want out on grounds of ‘failed promises’, and the task now lies with the club’s management to control the situation.
The news comes just a day after the champions lost their fourth consecutive match in all competitions, denting all the good work that has been put through the season.
Gor lost 2-0 to Ulinzi Stars, which came on back to back defeats against Bandari and Thika United. The mood at the club has been below friendly, with players lamenting over delayed payments.
Other players said to have handed in their letters include defender Charles Momanyi, midfielder Humphrey Mieno, and Francis Kahata.
K’ogalo were in scintillating form this season and did well in the CAF Confederations matches, where they lost in the group stages, failing to advance to the quarterfinals.
They, however, had a stroll in the Kenyan league, winning the title with six matches to spare.
