Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung'wah has found himself on the receiving end after he appeared to defend Deputy President William in a live TV interview.
Speaking during the Sidebar Show on NTV, Ichung'wah claimed corruption allegations being levelled against the DP were aimed at scuttling his 2022 presidential bid.
"William Ruto is ready to be on the ballot with anybody in a democratic process. What I take issue with is this 'stop Ruto at whatever cost' campaign," he said on Tuesday night.
The remarks, however, were dismissed by former Mukurwe-ini MP Kabando Wa Kabando who accused the Kikuyu legislator of being "obsessed" with Ruto.
"And you’re obsessed with one man instead of an idea or vision. What a pity!" said Kabando.
Ichung'wah further took issue with the peace deal between President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga where he accused the ODM leader of using the truce to rock the Jubilee Party from within.
"There's an element of deceit in the handshake. One hand came full of deceit," he said.
On his part, Kabando praised the handshake saying the problems facing the ruling party were courtesy of "Tanga Tanga" team which is associated with Ruto.
"Offside. Deceit is in Tanga Tanga. Handshake is universal," stated the ex-MP.
