Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has named two opposition top leaders he says are likely to work closely with Deputy President William Ruto ahead of the 2022 general polls.
Khalwale who was speaking in Malava constituency in Kakamega County on Saturday said the only way through which members of the Luhya community can move closer to the presidency or win the presidency is by uniting and working with Ruto.
He said Ruto is a 'neighbour' to the people of Western and thus he is the best person to forge a coalition with ahead of 2022.
Khalwale said ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula should with immediate effect disband their respective parties and register one formidable political party that will form a coalition with whichever party Ruto will vie for the presidency under in 2022.
"The day Mudavadi and Wetangula will make friends with Ruto and others is the day we (Luhya community) will be moving closer to this country's leadership," he said.
"Please when you decide it's Mudavadi (to fly presidential flag), I will say thank you. Kenyans, if you decide that it will be Wetangula, I will say Halleluya. And if you decide it is Ruto, who will I be to say no?"
Khalwale at the same time cautioned Luhyas to stay away from opposition leader Raila Odinga who he said has no agenda for Kenya.
Ruto is keen on winning majority votes in Western in 2022. He has successfully managed to win the support of some MPs from the vote-rich region.
