You might have noted that Luos do not have Luo Nights like many other Kenyan communities, theirs being 'Luo Festivals' instead.

Also, unlike other communities where entrance fees in these functions can begin from as low as Sh300, for Luos it begins at Sh1,000.

This is partly to blame on the stereotype that Luos live a top-notch lifestyle and love expensive stuff as it has been put out there.

Promoters having realized this, are maximizing on it to make a kill and it seems to be paying out.

The community has also led to the continuation of the same by still attending the events in large numbers, despite the rather inflated prices.

But at the same time, the events are given a presidential touch making them worth it to some extent.

This can be confirmed by the musicians and comedians who are paraded on stage to entertain the attenders.

In the Luo Festival dated for Saturday, for instance, celebrated comedians like Jalang'o will be on stage, the latter is an international figure.

He is actually ranked among the highest paid radio personalities and masters of ceremony in the nation, and his pay must be recovered from the revelers.

The comfort is also to be taken to account, considering that there are no regular seats in most of such occasions, the lowest level being the Very Important Person (VIP).

Saturday's event slated for Kisumu's Tom Mboya Labor College will have only the VIP and Very Very Important Person (VVIP) levels, which cannot be expected to cost 300 shillings.

Finally, unlike other events where a club might decide to hold an event and plan it by itself, Luo festivals are planned and organized by renowned firms which specialize on events.

Saturday's event will be courtesy of Arena Media.
