The Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Wajir arrested a man, Mohamed Barre for demanding a bribe.
In a tweet on Monday, the DCI noted that the Barre had demanded the money to delete a secretly recorded video.
''The attention of the DCI has been drawn to this allegations by @kulanpost, of Wajir Detectives having arrested Mr. Mohamed Barre for, “declining to disclose the source of the secretly recorded video...”. However, contrary to those allegations, the Detectives effected the arrest of the 26-year-old Barre,'' said the DCI.
Barre was arrested after a formal complaint. In the complain, Barre was accused of demanding Sh. 50, 000 bribe to delete the video he claimed to have showing Wajir County Architectural Assistant, Stephen Ndathu receiving bribe from contractors at his office.
During his arrest, Barre was found with Sh40,000 and is said to have been waiting for the Sh10, 000 balance.
The DCI detectives are now investigating the contents of the alleged video from Barre.
They have warned that upon completion of the investigations, those found culpable will be charged accordingly.
This comes at a time the government has warned against any form of corruption from Kenyans.
Those found in corruption are charged accordingly.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has vowed to fight corruption with everything in his second and last term in office.
