An elected Member of Parliament in Kisii County has broken his silence over the woes Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary-General Wilson Sossion has been undergoing.
South Mugirango lawmaker Sylvanus Osoro said Sossion has been doing a good job defending teachers under the KNUT umbrella and he should not be taken for granted.
The first term MP said internal forces within KNUT are forcing out Sossion despite how vocal Sossion is in matters education.
"My friend Sossion is facing hard times as the SG for KNUT. He is a man of his words who has been standing firm to defend for teachers rights. Those determined to humiliate him need to know there will be no replacement to be made to compare with Sossion," said Osoro.
The Kenya National Congress (KNC) Party allied MP appealed to teachers under the KNUT umbrella to accord Sossion the respect he deserves because he has endured a lot while defending for teachers.
He regretted that should Sossion be forced out, KNUT will break since several members will pull out and join KUPPET.
"Teachers in South Mugirango who are KNUT members need to stand with Sossion. His nomination to Parliament by ODM party does not mean he will fail defending teachers," he said.
Osoro was speaking on Monday at Nyamonaria village in Bogetenga ward.
