Trans Nzoia Governor Patrick Khaemba, a perceived ally of Deputy President William Ruto from the expansive Luhya community on Sunday attended BBI caucus in Nzoia Guest Lodge.
Khaemba was among top leaders from the Luhya community who joined the caucus.
A number of leaders associated with Dr Ruto have been snubbing Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) meetings terming them a scheme by ODM to ascend to power.
"They are all here; Governors @GovWOparanya @GovWWangamati @GovOjaamong @GovernorVihiga & Gvn. Khaemba of Transnzoia County. Devolution CS @EugeneLWamalwa & ODM SG @edwinsifuna are also present as leaders from the Luhya community #WesternSupportsBBI," Philip Etale tweeted.
Khaemba has been one of top Luhya leaders backing Dr Ruto and his latest gesture could be a hint of his sudden change of heart in terms of realignments.
While hosting the DP in Saboti last year, the county boss elected on a Ford Kenya ticket said, “I was not in Jubilee. I belong to a house that is now full of smoke. I have weighed my options ... though I have a bald head, I have a sharp brain."
"I asked myself whether I should continue living in a house full of smoke or build another house. We, the 14 governors in Rift Valley, have agreed to work together this time round," he added, as quoted in a past Daily Nation story.
