During the much anticipated Wasafi festivals held at Nairobi's Uhuru gardens in the new years eve, a section of Kenyan fans was not happy by the behaviour of bongo star Harmonize.
Few months prior to the function, Harmonize hit the Kenyan news headline after he failed to show up at a function in Eldoret Kenya for which he blamed those who were involved in the management of that function for not paying their part of the deal.
During the Wasafi festivals, he did two things that section of Kenyans found offensive. First, he appeared to have dropped a Kenyan flag which some saw it as a sign of disrespect.
In addition, he called Kenyans peasants and this angered many Kenyans.
During an interview with Wasafi TV, a branch of Wasafi brand, he clarified his comments as he said the difference in Swahili between Kenya and Tanzania led to the misunderstanding.
“You know Kenyan and Tanzanian Swahili is different. there are some words which if say in Kenya they (Kenyans) interpret differently. You know in Tanzania we consider ourselves part of our fans so when I tell you that you are my fellow peasant I think you can be able to understand but Kenyan language is different,” he explained.
Time will tell whether Kenyans will accept the explanation or not, but it is worth noting that the Kwangaru hitmaker did have arguably a good show that same day.
