Former Lagdera MP Farah Maalim has alleged that Garissa politicians were funded by Jubaland for the 2013 and 2017 general elections.
In a tweet on Saturday, Maalim revealed that the politicians received millions of dollars from Abdi Illey and the Jubaland administration to support senior politicians in both elections.
However, he believes that Ethiopian auditors will be able to identify the anomalies from the alleged aid of Jubaland to Garissa County politicians.
"In deed SC you will be shocked the amounts in millions of dollars Abdi Illey and Jubaland administration sent to Garissa County to support senior politicians (lobbyists) in the 2013 & 2017 General elections in Kenya. Ethiopian auditors will definitely pick the anomalies. Pay back!" reiterated Maalim in his tweet.
Earlier, Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi had called on the regulation of Somali politicians in Kenya.
According to the established lawyer, Somali politicians are running sophisticated and lucrative lobby firms and jobs and should therefore be regulated.
"Many Somali politicians in Kenya run sophisticated lobby firms & are doing lucrative lobbying jobs for county govts of Somalia I.e Jubaland, breakaway regions of Somalia & the former president of the Somali region in Ethiopia. Lobbyist 4 foreign govts must be registered/regulated," tweeted Ahmednasir.
Maalim vied for the Garissa Township parliamentary seat but lost to National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale.
