Former Kisii town mayor Samuel Nyangeso has condemned Kisii Governor James Ongwae for ignoring and neglecting orphans in the county.
Nyangeso claimed that Governor Ongwae is busy embezzling public funds while orphaned children are suffering deep in villages.
"Ongwae has failed to help orphans children. I am challenging him to consider setting aside funds in each financial year for the purpose of helping orphans kids at children homes to get food, clothes and proper education," he noted.
According to Nyangeso, Ongwae as the county boss has powers to ensure orphaned kids in the county are helped.
"Leaders below Ongwae will be willing to help orphans once the governor's administration steps up efforts to help children without parents across the county. As leaders we need to be close to orphans so that they have a feeling that they have parents," he added.
He challenged politicians and members of the clergy to visit children homes during this festive season to celebrate and spend happy moments with children at the facilities.
Nyangeso urged Kisii residents to also offer necessary support to orphans.
