The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) secretary general Wilson Sossion has rubbished claims that they are opposed to the new curriculum.

Sossion says they only need the curriculum to undergo a constant review.

Speaking on Citizen TV's Daybreak on Monday, the Knut boss said reforms in the Education sector should be done periodically contrary to what is happening now.

"KNUT and I are not opposed to curriculum review. If anything for the avoidance of doubt, we insist that any curriculum must undergo constant review at least within 5 years and reforms done periodically whenever it is necessary," he said.

The nominated MP also noted that as a union, they could never question about the process being used to implement the new curriculum if it had not been followed.

"What we are dealing with now is reforms which are a major undertaking. It is a shift and what we have questioned is the process. The correct steps of reforming the curriculum have not been followed. There are too many shortcuts used," Sossion said.

He further pointed out that KNUT was only enlightening the country over the 'misdeeds' the Ministry of education was undertaking.

The giant teachers union had opposed the training of teachers on the Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) which took place last week.
