Residents of Ekenyoru, Kabosi in Nyaribari Chache constituency, Kisii County are mourning the death of a 20-year-old man who committed suicide on Tuesday afternoon.

Confirming the incident area chief Justine Momanyi said the deceased, Kevin Mogite Ombwori arrived at his parents' home, gave his grandmother two mobile phones before he picked a rope and hanged himself. 

"Ombwori returned home and surrendered his two mobile phones to his grandmother. He took a rope from a room where he has been sleeping and hanged himself at a mango tree," he said.

Momanyi said pupils who were returning to school from home after lunch spotted the body hanging from the tree and raised alarm. 

"I was informed by villagers about the tragic death. I rushed there and found the deceased lifeless body hanging from a mango tree which is 50 meters away from his house," he said.

The administrator noted that he called police officers from Keumbu who arrived and took the body to Kisii teaching and referral hospital morgue. 

He called on youths to stop taking their own lives but, instead seek spiritual guidance whenever they face difficulties in life. 

Momanyi said the deceased parents who are traders at Keumbu market were away from home when the incident happened.
