Opposition leader Raila Odinga left the country for a four-day visit to South Africa.

Raila is set to attend the 100th anniversary of the late Nelson Mandela's birth.

According to Raila's spokesperson Dennis Onyango, he left the country for Johannesburg for the event expected to be graced by former US President Barack Obama.

Onyango said Raila will later proceed to Mvezo in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, the birthplace of Mandela.

At Mvezo Raila is expected to deliver a speech on Mandela's legacy.

It is not clear whether Raila is in South Africa in a personal capacity or representing the country.

On Sunday Raila held talks with Obama who was in the country for a two-day visit.
