Garissa County First Lady Fardosa Osman has challenged women to venture into active politics.
Osman wants women to take the step and seek leadership positions in order to effectively champion their interests and rights.
The first lady said that leadership is not a preserve of men.
Speaking when she visited Garissa GK Prison on Saturday, Osman said that women have the constitutional right to venture into active leadership positions.
The Garissa first lady said that women hold the future of Kenya.
She asked women to rise to the occasion and save Kenyan.
“Women must come out and contest for political positions and give the change millions of Kenyans are yearning for, " she said.
Meanwhile, the Garissa first lady has asked Parliament to pass the Two-Thirds Gender Law.
She said that it is unfortunate that the bill is yet to be passed eight years since the promulgation of the constitution.
Osman urged Garissa Township MP Aden Duale to lobby and ensure Parliament passes the bill.
The gender bill has flopped four times because of quorum hitches.
Duale has promised to re-table the bill in Parliament once again.
