A 19-year-old man has pleaded guilty to charges of killing his father in 2017.
Appearing before Kabarnet High Court Judge Edward Muriithi on Thursday, Peter Kipkurui Kipyegon admitted that he hacked his father Wilson Kipyegon Kimetto using a machete.
The incident happened at their home in Seguton Location, in Koibatek, Baringo county on June 11, 2017, when the accused was only 17 year of age.
The prosecution told the court how the accused landed in an altercation with his father for fencing a piece of land he (the accused) considered his.
The court heard how an argument ensued, after which the accused who was carrying a machete began chasing his father with the intention of slashing him.
The father fell down after a short distance, before the boy hacked him on the neck and head, resulting in his instant death.
On his side, the accused admitted the claims, calling upon elders to forgive him as his lawyer pleaded with the court for leniency.
"I agree that I committed the offence on the mentioned date,” the accused told the court as quoted by Citizen Digital.
The judge ordered that Kipkurui is remanded at the Nakuru GK Prison pending the ruling on April 10.
