Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga has so far kept his game plan for 2022 a top-secret.
Not even his close allies are certain whether the former Prime Minister will vie for the presidency or will head to retirement and endorse another person to take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Senate Minority Leader James Orengo, who is Raila's confidant and legal adviser, said he was not sure whether his boss will make a fifth attempt at clinching power in 2022.
Speaking to People Daily, the Siaya Senator was however quick to note that despite the certainty, he was sure ODM will produce a presidential candidate.
“The question of whether or not Odinga will be on the ballot is not for me to answer at this point, because I have no idea. What is clear to us, though, is that ODM will field a candidate in the 2022 polls,” Orengo said on Friday.
However, ODM legislator Babu Owino recently said Raila will go for the top seat in an alliance that will also have President Uhuru going for the prime minister post.
"If the DYNASTIES will save us from the thieves who have stolen from the future then let the DYNASTIES Rule until Kenyans are ready for my presidency. 2022 line up: President-Raila Odinga, Deputy, President-Kalonzo Musyoka, Prime minister-Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy Prime Minister-Musalia Mudavadi, Deputy Prime minister2-Ali Hassan Joho/Gideon Moi. Opposition leader-Ruto Arap William" posted Embakasi East MP.
National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has also predicted that the former Prime Minister will attempt to be Kenya's fifth Head of State in a contest that will also have Deputy President William Ruto.
"I can tell you for free. The presidential contest in 2022 will be between 2 people- William Ruto and Raila Odinga. I will be backing William Ruto," Duale said on Tuesday in an interview on Citizen TV.
