Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has urged former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti to continue fighting for the interests of Machakos people despite losing the Supreme Court case.
The governor said Ndeti is a true symbol of a leader who has the people's interests at heart.
Ngilu said the former lawmaker is keen on electoral justice.
Addressing the press in Kitui Town on Friday, Ngilu asked Ndeti not to give up in agitating for democracy and justice.
She said Machakos people have confidence in Ndeti and that she stands a better chance of ascending to top leadership in the near future.
"Wavinya Ndeti has shown determination in pushing for electoral justice and I urge her not to give up fighting for the rights of Machakos people," she said.
The NARC governor urged Ndeti to be hopeful, adding that she has a bright political future ahead.
Ngilu said Ndeti's determination and resilience is a motivation to women leaders who have been politically oppressed.
On Friday, the Supreme Court validated Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua's victory.
The Court ruled that Mutua was validly elected in the 2017 gubernatorial election.
Ndeti, however, maintains that the Maendeleo Chap Chap governor was not validly elected.
She claims that Mutua is forcing himself on Machakos people.
The former MP now says she will use other channels to push for change in Machakos.
Mutua has since appealed to Ndeti to work with him for the sake of development.
In June, the Court of Appeal had nullified Mutua's election on grounds that it did not meet the constitutional verifiability.
The appellate court ordered the IEBC to conduct a fresh gubernatorial election, a move that prompted Mutua to appeal the ruling at the Supreme Court.
