People who accompanied the mother of the baby to the hospital said that they were unable to trace the baby after the lady gave birth at the facility

A report by Citizen indicated that one of the nurses had earlier informed one of the lady's relatives, that her child died shortly after being born.

“My sister demanded to be shown her baby’s corpse which the hospital management failed to provide,” said the brother.

Machakos County Director of Medical Services Dr Joel Mwova confirmed the incident noting that his efforts to reach the affected family, and know what happened was unsuccessful.

“I was given the phone number of one of the relatives, I called him to find out what exactly happened but he was in a meeting with heads of other departments. I want to get report from the nurses in charge so that I give you a comprehensive report,” said Mwova.

This comes barely a week after a nurse and a hospital administrator at Shalom Hospital in Athi River, Machakos County were arrested over allegations of negligence.

The two were arrested after a video surfaced online showing a lady delivering at the hospital's reception area.
