VIP security team arrived at Borabu on Friday morning expected landing of Deputy President William Ruto who is attending a funeral at Nyansiongo.
For the better part of Thursday, local police officers led by OCPD Timothy Muasya of Borabu said all logistics were in place ahead of expected VIP guests at Mama Peninah Osero funeral, wife to former North Mugirango MP Joseph Osero.
"We are ready to handle high number of guests expected in the meeting. Officers are alert and at your service," he said without directly confirming Ruto's expected trip.
And on Friday, thousands of locals had gathered at Nyansiongo Grounds ahead of DP landing with special security forces from Nairobi leaving nothing unturned in a trip that comes few days after a terror attack in Nairobi.
Mr Patrick Osero, a close ally of Ruto and a son to the deceased, said many guests are expected in the funeral, adding that it will not involve politics.
"We have several friends and family attending and this shouldn't be limited to DP Ruto alone. Many people will come and they are welcome," said the veteran politician.
Among those also expected include Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i, Governor John Nyagarama, several MPs from the vast Gusii region.
Mr Patrick Osero, who lost narrowly Borabu MP seat in 2013 and 2017 to Ben Momanyi, is a close ally of Ruto and chair Kenya Tourism Board.
There were also reports that Raila Odinga will attend due to his friendship with the family. Ruto is expected at the venue at 12pm, Friday.
