Flash floods are wreaking havoc in Bomet County as heavy rains continue to pound the region.
Reports indicate that at least 40 families from the county have been displaced by the flash floods.
Business premises, pit latrines and residential houses have been submerged after heavy rains hit the region.
Strong winds were on Saturday experienced in Kapkwen trading centre in Chepalungu sub-county leaving the residents in a state of fear.
An excavator and grader from the county government have been dispatched to the area to counter the effect of the floods.
Bomet County Executive in charge of Medical Services and Public Health Dr Joseph Sitonik appealed to the residents to be careful during this period.
He said there are possibilities of disease outbreaks in the area, and asked the residents to observe good hygiene during this duration as they wait for the rains to reduce over time.
Nyangores MCA Andrew Maritim urged the national government and well-wishers to support the families in the area during the season.
“The families require support, there is fear that further damages to property could be experienced owing to the rains pounding the area,” Maritim said as quoted by Daily Nation.
