There was drama in Chebororwa ward, Elgeyo Marakwet county, as police officers wrestled a forest guard to the ground in efforts to disarm him.
The guard, who was reportedly intoxicated, had threatened to shoot county boss Alex Tolgos.
The incident took place at Takwei primary school.
The officer is said to have told the governor not to access the school lest he shoots him and his team.
Thinking it was just another joke, Tolgos was shocked when the guard sprinted to his house and came back with a G-3 rifle.
He cocked it and aimed at the county boss before his colleagues dashed swiftly and wrestled him to the ground.
He was disarmed after minutes of a struggle between him and the other officers.
Tolgos has called for immediate action on the officer and his colleagues as residents claimed the officers are often drunk risking the lives of residents.
"We can't allow this to happen... how can we have security officers living in a school compound and getting so drunk in such a way," Tolgos said.
