An elected MCA in Kisii County has celebrated ODM party's loss in the just concluded Ugenya by-election.
Tabaka ward MCA Daniel Apepo attributed ODM's loss to poor leadership.
He said that it should be a warning bell to Raila Odinga that he is losing his political clout in an area where ODM enjoys unrivalled support.
"The terrible loss by ODM candidate Chris Karan in Ugenya is a clear indication that Raila's party is losing focus in the country's politics. It is high time Raila should accept to retire and allow youthful, energetic leaders to take over the leadership of the party," he said.
According to the vocal ward representative allied to Jubilee Party, ODM has been imposing candidates to the electorate, a tactic that seems to be working against it.
Apepo said ODM party is losing fame each day as the 2022 general elections near.
"Raila's ODM party gives direct nominations to unpopular candidates as well as sells the tickets to candidates who will fail in the ballot. If ODM as a political party respects the will of the electorate and ensures fair nominations are done, the party will get its lost glory back," he said.
He challenged Kisii residents to reject ODM party in 2022 saying that the party doesn't value democracy.
