Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji is unfit to be in office, Nyakach Member of Parliament Aduma Owuor has said.
Speaking in his constituency on Sunday, the embattled lawmaker said that he will table a motion to kick out the DPP with immediate effect. The legislator argued that Haji has not been handling cases with the level of professionalism they deserve.
He argued that Haji’s conduct is questionable, adding that he must be investigated over the same.
Owuor claimed that Haji has been wasting public resources by flying from one part of the country to the other in the name of conducting investigations but nothing is forthcoming from his activities.
He further opined that Haji has proven beyond doubt that he will not live up to the expectations of Kenyans following his appointment by President Uhuru Kenyatta in April.
“I’ll bring a motion to censure the DPP. We cannot have a DPP who is going to subject the country to pay a lot of damages; wasting taxpayers money carrying me to Nairobi by flight when I can afford to be in Nairobi because I live and work in Nairobi,” said Owour as quoted by Citizen Digital.
His remarks come after he was arrested by sleuths from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission over the alleged loss of funds during his tenure as an official in the county government of Nairobi. The lawmaker was freed after he denied the allegations levelled against him.
