Just two days after the launch of Building Bridges Initiative report, two senior government officials have backed the document.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and his former political nemesis Raila Odinga received the report earlier this week, calling for thorough reading and understanding.
The report is set to be fine-tuned by experts before it's passed either through parliamentary initiative or popular vote.
Speaking on Thursday in Kajiado, Environment CS Keriako Tobiko and his interior counterpart Dr. Fred Matiang'i backed the document.
Mr. Tobiko said the executive summary given by the team is enough to back the document at glance.
“The executive summary given by the president and Raila at the Bomas of Kenya on Wednesday has obvious take home,” he said as quoted by the standard.
“There are those who are sitting on the fence on the pretext that they have not understood the content. The summary is enough,” said the Environment CS.
Matiang'i said the unity between the two leaders has brought about relative stability, adding that the course ought to be supported.
“We have instructions from the president that we must engage both local and national leaders to hasten development,” said Matiang’i.
Among others, the report has proposed the introduction of Prime Minister seat, with the office expected to coordinate government affairs.
