Responding to a question on JKL show on Wednesday, as to whether he can defeat Deputy President William Ruto, and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Governor Kibwana said it is possible.

He, however, decried the problem of negative ethnicity in the country, but divulged that Kenyans have shown signs of being tired of the same.

"I think yes. We have this problem of negative ethnicity and it is something that is fueled by us, the politicians…I can feel that Kenyans are getting tired of being mobilised on ethnic basis…” Kibwana said.

Regarding claims that President Uhuru Kenyatta is seeking to extend his term in office, Kibwana said the Head of State should be given time to express himself on the issue.

He, however, noted that the current Constitution only provides for a two 5-year term for the president.

“I think we should wait for the president to definitively tell us whether he wants to stay on or not, of course he cannot be president again because the Constitution says two terms…" he said.
