According to Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet, North Eastern Regional Police Commander Paul Soi will be operating in a different attire.

Speaking on Monday when he named the new police bosses, Boinnet said that Soi will operate in the usual uniform in line with the region he is operating in.

The IG seemed to suggest that North Eastern is a volatile region and Soi will need a camouflaged appearance to enable him to carry on with his roles undisturbed.

"His uniform is a bit different because of the region he has been deployed to work in,” he was quoted by the Standard in Mombasa county.

The nation recently began the drift from the initial uniform to the new one.

The production of the uniforms has since commenced within the country, after the procurement of the textile from the Eldoret-based Rivatex Factory.

Boinnet hailed the new regalia, terming it as largely accepted by Kenyans.

“Everyone I meet agrees with us that we made the right choice (on the color of the new uniform). I think the naysayers did not get it right from the beginning, it is a good uniform,” he added.

Boinnet has been leading in donning the new outfit.
