Former Nairobi speaker Beatrice Elachi has broken her silence in the ongoing referendum debate.
Speaking in Kakamega county over the weekend, Elachi said that she was joining other Kenyans to push for a change in the constitution before the next general elections.
She said that the changes would work well to improve representation and ensure inclusivity in governance.
“It is only through a referendum that all communities will enjoy the country's leadership. We all want one of our own at the top,” Elachi said.
It was the first time the former speaker was commenting on the matter after her ouster.
Commenting on her ouster, Elachi pointed fingers at the Jubilee leadership saying that they had betrayed her at the hour of need.
