Kipsang on Friday said that the process will take place until January 24 to allow parents and guardians enable 2019 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCSE) candidates join their schools of choice.

The PS said that the government wants to ensure that no students who sat for the Primary examinations are locked out of secondary education. The exercise had been scheduled to end on January 17 before the extension was announced.

The announcement comes as a relief to parents who were worried about their children being locked out of school.

The PS said that the extension is now expected to give school heads the chance to ensure that all the students who are yet to report to different institutions are traced.

"Schools should use the extension to trace their learners who have not reported and at the same time capture all reported learners in NEMIS," said Dr Kipsang.

He asked the heads and other stakeholders to use the 2019 candidates list to ensure that candidates can be traced from different parts of the nation.

The government has said that it is committed to ensuring that there is a 100 per cent transition for the students who sat for the primary examinations.
