The Council of Governors on Thursday congratulated Labour Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yattani following his appointment in the acting capacity at the Treasury.
The governors said that they have confidence in Yattani following his appointment by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The leaders said that the Yattani, who is also Former Marsabit Governor, has what it takes to deliver at the office.
The county bosses said that they believe Yattani will unite the two levels of government following his appointment in the post.
“Congratulations @BaloziYatani on your appointment as the Ag. CS @KeTreasury . The devolution family has confidence in your ability and competence to run this docket and to ensure a collaborative relationship between the two levels of Government,” tweeted COG.
The replacement comes after Treasury CS Henry Rotich was arrested alongside other officials from the Treasury over the loss of funds in the Arror-Kimwarer Dam Project.
Rotich and his accomplices denied the charges leveled against them when they appeared in court on Tuesday.
The other suspects in the saga are Kamau Thugge (Treasury Principal Secretary) and Jackson Kinyanjui (Treasury Director of resource mobilization) among others.
The arrest came after the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) said that he has enough evidence to charge the accused over the scandal following public uproar over the project.
