Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed, who has been installed to lead campaigns in Kibra, has said that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party will use all the resources it has at its disposal to retain the constituency's parliamentary seat.
Speaking on Wednesday in the capital Nairobi, the outspoken legislator put other parties with candidates in the Kibra by-election on notice, saying that ODM has the warchest to clinch the seat.
"I want to assure all the parties that we will have a strong campaign. We have prepared all our resources (Nahakikishia vyama vingine ya kwamba tutakua na campaign kali sana, campaign ya kukata na shoka. Tumetayarisha vyombo vyetu zote za madola, " the MP said.
Junet Mohamed's words come after the victory of Imran Okoth, the brother of the late former MP Ken Okoth, in the Kibra nomination exercise after garnering over 4,000 votes.
Other aspirants who sought the ODM ticket pledged to throw their weight behind the ODM candidate who will fly the party's flag in the by-election slated for November.
Peter Orero, the second best aspirant, abandoned an appeal to contest Imran's victory in a dramatic reversal.
Campaigns are expected to start in earnest after the ODM Kibra standard bearer presented his credentials to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
