Deputy President William Ruto on Tuesday dropped a strongest hint that he will after all go to negotiation table after Building Bridges Initiative tables report.
For months now, Dr Ruto's team has been poking holes at the BBI which was put in place by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga of ODM.
With BBI expected to recommend expansion of the executive, Dr Ruto has come out strongly to oppose the move, arguing that the country does not need more positions.
But at Kapsabet on Tuesday, Dr Ruto said that he is ready to sit on dialogue table with proponents and negotiate for a win-win situation in the debate.
His latest approach is yet another indication that the changes could be backed by all prominent politicians, avoiding the scenario of 2010 and 2005.
"In the conversation we are going to have, when the BBI puts across their proposal, we will have a descent conversation. The conversation shall analyse issues in a manner that gives solutions to challenges.
"We will not accept a divisive conversation. We will not accept the spirit of Tsunamis that seeks to divide the country. We will reject any group that seeks to divide the country. We shall have a win-win scenario. We shall not have loser-win situation," he said.
On Sunday, Mr Odinga said the BBI report shall be published for further interrogation by Kenyans. He also warned critics, arguing that they will lose in the referendum.
“There are very good views from Kenyans and once the report is out, we will publish it for Kenyans to give their views then go for a referendum. I have seen a storm, there are signs that it will rain.
"There’s is a storm that will take all the Tanga Tanga people to the ocean,” said Raila amid cheers by the wild crowd at Kamukunji grounds.
