Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen has weighed in on the alleged silence by security authorities after claims that Dagoretti North MP Paul Simba Arati unleashed goons to intimidate Didmus Barasa.
Didmus took to his Twitter account on Saturday to condemn the responsible authorities who have not taken action to those who allegedly sponsored youths to threaten him.
''Since the @DCI_Kenya,@DPPS_KE and @IG_NPS have remained mum over the violence meted against me by @SimbaArati and the international slayqueen @Hon_FatumaGedi, this inaction represents a vote of confidence to the goonism by @InteriorKE,'' tweeted Barasa.
In response to the claim, the Majority Leader in the Senate said; ''I am worried that instead, they will soon plant a crime/scandal on you.Something like missing marks in college, loitering with intent, vandalism, possession of cannabis, theft of poultry, use of fake name on the internet, cycling without lights after dark or something to do with CDF.''
Simba Arati ,however, has strongly denied giving a go ahead youths who reportedly mishandled Barasa on Thursday during Kibra polls.
He argued that it was him who intervene the worsening situation and saved him (Barasa) from the agitated youths.
“Sadly, I am being blamed yet I saved my brother from the wrath of the youths who had been told that Jubilee legislators were on the ground to buy voters. It is wrong for people and even you the media to report that I unleashed youths on Barasa. It is me who saved him,”said Arati as quoted by the Standard.
The Kimilili MP further noted that he will tighten his security in the coming days.
