Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang’ has reacted to Deputy President William Ruto’s attack on Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju.
In a tweet on Sunday, DP Ruto questioned why Tuju had decided to work with the opposition as its chief strategist yet he is an official of the ruling Jubilee party.
"So our democracy is so liberal that the SG of the ruling party has become the chief strategist of the opposition!! Maajabu," tweeted Ruto.
The remarks by the Deputy President have elicited mixed reactions from different leaders.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV's Day Break show on Monday, Kajwang’ reminded Ruto that he is not Tuju’s equal. He noted that it is unfortunate that the DP demeaned himself to the point of attacking Tuju.
“I found DP Ruto’s tweet on Tuju to be completely out of place because I do not think Tuju is at the same level as DP Ruto,” he said.
The senator also argued that the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Amolo Odinga was not a merger of the two parties. He affirmed that the leaders agreed to work together for the sake of national development, adding that their unity has nothing to do with their political parties.
“The handshake was not a merger of two parties; it was the coming together of two leaders who represented two very diverse political views and came together for the sake of Kenyans,” he added.
