Kisii Governor James Ongwae said the AU job will keep Raila strong and told off those calling the former Prime Minister to retire from active politics following his appointment.

"Raila's top job in the AU doesn't mean he will be politically dead. The former presidential candidate will be strong and more energetic ahead of 2022 general elections," he said on Monday after he visited the Kisii County exhibition Booth in the ongoing Lake Region Economic Block Conference 2018 at Bomet County.

Governor Ongwae warned DP Ruto's men against politicizing Raila's appointment saying Raila is a leader not only in this country but, across Africa continent.

"DP Ruto's allies should not celebrate that Raila's appointment will see Ruto winning Presidency in 2022. The former Prime Minister will not retire as desperate DP Ruto's men want," he said.

The county boss wished the ODM party leader well in his new job and roles saying it is time Kenyans should wake up and make him the next President no matter what.

"The political injustices have been making Raila lose elections. In 2022 the previous injustices must not be condoned," he added.

Mr. Ongwae is one of the chief campaigners of Raila in Gusii region, a region that has supported ODM for decade.
