Born to a Kalenjin father who died 14 years ago and a Kisii mother, Kemunto great up in a Muslims family at Ruai and was reportedly not that religious, to an extent of becoming an extremist.

And after completing education at Muslim Girls, she joined Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology in 2010 where she pursued Journalism and PR. She graduated in 2015.

Upon her graduation, the Saturday Nation reports, Kemunto moved to Nairobi where she secured a job in an MPESA outlet. During this time, she rented a house in Gumba estate, off Thika Road.

In 2016 June, she reportedly visited her relatives in Kisii. During the trip, Kemunto, who did not wear hijab, took photos and even posted them in Facebook account then named Violet Omwoyo.

Four months later, she changed her page to Didgesupuu Omwoyo, an account which marked the beginning of her exit from the public to a world better known to her.

And even more curious, she again changed her Facebook name to Didgesupuu Faruq, with the last name making reference to Ali Salim Gichunge alias Farouk, her husband who is said to have been killed in the attack.

Throughout this time, she cut links with her family, only to resurface in 2018, where she announced her wedding with Ali Gichunge, a son of a KDF sergeant.

Her family, the Nation reports, constitutes four girls and two boys. Her two brothers stay in the US while her mother remarried and stays in Ruai. None of her family member knows about her whereabouts.

During this period, she lived like a regular Nairobi woman. Some of the Facebook groups that she joined and often participated in included Kilimani Mums and Dads, Kisii Mums and Dads and Ngumba Times, an estate group.

Kemunto’s Instagram and Facebook profiles indicate a woman with a taste for expensive items.

“Mrs to a Mr F., God fearing, Allah first, Business Minded, PEACE,” Her Instagram profile reads.
