Police in Mwala sub-county, Machakos have commenced investigations into an incident where a three-year-old baby allegedly died after a beating by his mother.
Stephen Musyoka, Yathui location chief told Hivisasa when contacted that the incident happened in Musoka village, Yathui location.
"I received a phone call while in office and told that a child had been found dead at Kioko Munywoki's home. I notified the OCS and we headed to the home. We found the dead child with marks showing he had been beaten," said Musyoka on Tuesday evening.
He said that the marks on the child's body showed that he was thoroughly beaten.
He noted that the body was picked and taken to Machakos Level Five Hospital mortuary for preservation awaiting an autopsy.
"After investigations, arrests will be made if the baby died from the beating then the mom will answer for it."
The chief asked why anyone would beat up a child to that point. "Who in his sane mind beats a three-year-old kid that way,?" wondered Musyoka.
He warned parents against beating their kids in a bid to avoid such occurrences.
"Don't go overboard when punishing your kids. Remember the law is very clear on the protection of kids. If you hurt your kids, the law will catch up with you," he said.
