After three years of being defiled by a person who was supposed to protect her, the then 12-year-old girl found a guardian who even paid for her treatment.

Ngilu who was then the Lands Cabinet Secretary reportedly learned about the girl's plight through social media.

She responded to the issue and ordered that the girl be taken to Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi for treatment.

The minor who was in class three then was left paralysed, droped out of school and her dreams of becoming a policewoman shattered.

Since her mother's lover stole her innoncence, she couldnt get good treatement.

Her grandmother tried to take her to Embu District Hospital but failed to raise the huge amount of money needed for treatment.

"I took her to hospital but I couldnt pay her bills. So I just brought her home. It's this time when Ngilu intervened and help my little girl," said her grandmother in a local dialect.

After the issue was raised on social media during Mothers Day celebrations in 2012, the girl's mother eloped with her lover to Garissa to enjoy the bliss of "love".

Ngilu sent her personal assistant Mary Ndungu to pick the minor from their Mwingi home and took her to Kenyatta.

"Her mother seems not buffered by her daughter's anguish. And not even afraid of her lover who caused her daughter such pain," Ngilu's personal assistant said.

Area chief Sam Maithya took the case to Mwingi court but later found out that the mother had burnt the hospital reports to hide evidence.

Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka also intervened and promised to help the child through his Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation program.

"I am concerned that this happened in our area. But once the girl is fully treated and well I will help her get education through my Foundation," Kalonzo promised.

Kalonzo said the mother ought to had been charged with negligence.
