Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) boss Ezekiel Mutua has formally issued a statement after a video of a young boy hurling insults at a girl, who was only identified as Nikita went viral.
In a press conference on Thursday, Mutua said that it is unfortunate that such incidents are happening in modern society.
Mutua said that it is not an isolated case, adding that there is a need for various stakeholders to team up against the use of abusive language among children. He also said that he was shocked to see the video after it started doing rounds on social media.
“It is not just that one child, it is a reflection of the rot in our society and the damage that bad content is doing to our children,” he said.
Mutua further said that is saddening to note that children are exposed to dirty content at a tender age adding that it is the responsibility of parents, teachers and the entire society to ensure children behave in the right manner.
“Our children have been exposed to dirty content at an early age, they think that dirt sells. They tend to find fame in dirty things because that's what adults are doing they are watching us. We are not setting the right example,” he added.
