According to the report, , a new report has revealed.
The report, compiled by the British Agency, European Union, World Bank and others, indicates that most of the deadly accidents happen between 7pm and midnight.
It also indicates that 70 percent of accident-related deaths recorded in the city are of pedestrians, which has been blamed on poor visibility and drunk driving among motorists.
“The deadliest times for pedestrians are at night between 7pm and midnight when 41 per cent of pedestrian deaths occur. Implicating factors that need to be investigated further could include poor visibility, drunk driving and speed,” it reads.
The report has also lists nine black spots which are notorious for such accidents, which are Githurai, GSU Roundabout on Thika Road, Moi Airbase and Ladhies Road.
Others areas include; Pangani, Hamza on Jogoo Road, Juja Road, Ruaka and City Cabanas on Eastern Bypass, which represent 14 percent of all the recorded crashes, leading to deaths.
"These locations represent 14 per cent of all locations, where severe crashes have occurred in the six years under review. This high concentration of crashes and negative crash outcomes is an opportunity to prioritise these locations for policy action and substantially remedy the loss of life in the city,” the report states.
It also ranks matatu stages as the most dangerous areas for pedestrians, suggesting that 35 percent of the deaths happened within 20 metres of such terminuses.
